Why I skipped the Olympics

I’m guilty of not watching a single minute of the Olympics 🫢

Balance, balance, balance on the surfski (it’s hard!)

I prefer to be out there, enjoying being active rather than being a spectator. I think the same applies on how I run Entegral.

You can easily become a spectator in your own company once busyness takes over: a calendar full of meetings, deadlines, partnerships to explore, the next round of funding to secure, keeping tabs on what your competitors are doing, conferences and a slew of other things that eats up time. All while loosing focus of your customer.

My open calendar means I have control over my time and have options. The freedom to decide what you can do next is called wealth (so is health). This is why I don’t chase funding, don’t compare ourselves, and don’t feel guilty about not having endless meetings or marketing people who oversell our products. Overcomplicating your business or product is easy and why I try to stick to our slogan: Real Estate (Technology) Simplified.

When I am out there, I often think about the problems we need to solve and how best and efficient we can do that. We have no option; we are a small team and self-funded, so every cent needs to be accounted for.

I would win a gold medal for over analysing & over optimising, and also a gold medal for sometimes being way too hard on myself and my team. I’m figuring this out: one row, step, or pedal at a time.

Speaking of optimizing: I listened to this 8-hour podcast on an outing — fascinating to learn about the potential of brain-computer interfaces, what is already possible, and the future impact on humanity’s ability to process more information, faster.
